Men’s Sexual Shadow Transformation Weekend
to your Area
For many men, Cock Talk was a profound part of their NWTA weekend. But two hours is a woefully short amount of time to discuss something as fundamental and vast as men’s sexuality. The many taboos around this subject have pushed men’s sexuality into the shadows leaving many men starving for a place where they can talk freely about the painful and joyful ways their sexuality and has shown up in their lives.
Giles Carwyn is a certified Shadow Work® coach and facilitator who specializes in men’s sexuality. He co-created the Eros Work Program which adapts the Shadow Work® tools and processes to allow people of all genders to work together to uncover, heal, and embrace their authentic sexuality. He is willing to travel to any MKP area and lead up to ten men through a Sexual Shadow Transformation Weekend. This seminar offers a unique chance for men to gather to have a frank and honest look at men’s sexuality on personal, interpersonal and cultural levels.
It is an opportunity to:
- Share your deepest truths without shame or blame
- Debunk pervasive myths about men’s sexuality
- Transform painful, self-limiting beliefs
- Overcome internal resistance
- Access joy and connection
As human beings, sexuality is fundamental to who we are. It is intimately tied to our sense of self and our place in the world. But cultural expectations are nowhere close to matching the internal reality of most men.
Our culture tends to frame men’s sexuality in a very negative light. For centuries, our culture has simultaneously controlled, entitled, shamed, misrepresented, obligated and condemned men as sexual beings. We have been painted as dangerous, creepy, wanton, selfish, inadequate, unavailable, and perverse. This disconnect between cultural expectations and personal feelings has left many men living with a deep sense of shame and rejection that we are expected to hide behind macho bravado or spiritual mastery.
Over the course of the weekend there will be an opportunity for each man to share the truths we usually keep hidden. Each participant can identify his peak sexual experiences — the times, real or fantasized, when he felt most aroused, engaged and fulfilled. Those peak experiences will serve as a compass leading to the deeper parts of each man’s psyche where our sexual shadows hide our magnificence. Most men will have an opportunity to do a Shadow Work® process to face those shadows and reclaim their authentic sexuality for themselves.
All men are welcome.
Giles is a Certified Shadow Work® Coach and Facilitator who specializes in men’s sexuality. He is also a novelist, screenwriter, father, and leader in the Asheville, NC ManKind Project. He is the co-creator of the Eros Work program and the Men’s Sexual Shadow Transformation Weekend with Shadow Work® founder Cliff Barry.
Shadow Work has been, by far, the most effective tool he has discovered for understanding and letting go of the things that no longer serve us and envisioning, embracing, and integrating new ways of being that are more joyful, effortless, and empowering.
The workshop runs from Friday 6pm – 10pm, Saturday 10am – 8pm, Sunday 10am – 5pm.
The local community will need to promote the event (with materials provided by Giles) and arrange a venue where privacy can be assured and 11 men can sit comfortably in circle.
Giles is willing to stay in the home of of one of the participants to save lodging costs.
Giles offers this opportunity to MKP communities at the discounted rate of $1500 plus expenses.
Generally $750-1000 will cover airfare, travel and parking to and from Charlotte Airport, baggage, meals, and supplies.
If you can find a venue for little or no cost, 8-10 men at $295/per man is sufficient to cover expenses.
Any extra money will go back to the local center to support admin costs.
