Part 2: Discovering Divine Safety in the Body
June 6th 6:30 – 9:30 PM
Hosted by Sarah Poet and Giles Carwyn
Do you often feel angry, judgmental, or marginalized by the “other” gender treats you?
Does is seem like your partners have never really heard you, seen you, or appreciated you?
Is it hard to ever feel completely safe as a woman in a group of men? Or a man in a group of women?
Do you you feel constantly wary and guarded around the other gender in ways that prevent you from making meaningful connections?
Do we seem doomed to long for love and acceptance from the exact some people that frighten and infuriate us?
Have you ever been accused of being too masculine, or too feminine? Or not feminine or masculine enough?
Navigating gender politics in the world today can be really complicated. We live in a world of ever shifting power dynamics, new family/relationship structures, expanding awareness of the gender spectrum, increasing sex-positivity, #metoo, fourth wave feminism, and the men’s movement. What it means to be a woman, a man, or non-binary is in intense flux.
These days it can seem like our inner and outer worlds are stuck in an endless war between the masculine and feminine. Is there any way to end that war without losing it?
We believe the answer is yes, if we are willing to come together from a place of curiosity and respect. If we are willing to take a hard look in the mirror together, we can move past our shared history, our personal wounds, and the rigid roles that society has forced upon us. If we can persevere through tough, authentic, and vulnerable conversation with each other, we can heal wounded masculine/feminine. We can transcend the immature versions of femininity/masculinity and gain access to the divine feminine and divine masculine within each of us.
Sarah Poet and Giles Carwyn invite you to join them in series of three carefully structured conversations about discovering and cultivating the archetypal energies of divine masculine and divine feminine within ourselves, our relationships, and our world.
Giles and Sarah created these workshops by combining their diverse and complementary backgrounds in Shadow Work® and mindfulness practices. They have drawn inspiration from ancient traditions, new psychological research, current gender politics, neurobiology, tantric theory, personal experience and the larger context of the past and current realities of power and gender.
We believe that when a deeper unification of the feminine & masculine exists within each person, the quality of our love relationships deepens and greater connection is possible.
You are welcome to join us for one, two, or three of these conversations — whatever fits your desire and your schedule. Come explore with us!
Part 1: Understanding Divine Duality in the Mind
May 23 6:30-9:30 PM
Part 1, will explore the concept of divine femininity and divine masculinity. What are they? What do they look like? What might they feel like? What does each have to offer that the other needs? We will consider the deflated, inflated, and balanced aspects of masculine and feminine energy within each of us. In a series of experiential exercises we take a deeper look at how we consciously and unconsciously embody these archetypal energies, and how improve our relationships with ourselves and each other by cultivating an intentional union of the masculine and feminine.
In Part 2: Discovering Divine Safety in the Body
June 6th 6:30-9:30 PM
Part 2, will be deeper look at the anxiety, animosity and distrust we can often feel toward the other gender. There are many legitimate personal and cultural reasons to stay guarded around each other. But those challenges are not insurmountable. Starting with the breath and a basic understanding of how trauma and the fight/flight/freeze mechanisms inhibit our access to intimacy, we will explore how to use both masculine and feminine approaches to building confidence and resiliency. Experiential exercises will allow you deeper access to your own sense of safety in the body.
In Part 3: Cultivating Divine Polarity in the Spirit
June 20th 6:30-9:30 PM
Part 3, will explore the Divine Union of Consciousness and Energy. This spiritual principal invites us to consciously create both balance and polarity between the masculine & feminine. We will show you how to apply this concept to your most important relationships via two powerful mindfulness tools: Co-Regulation & Attunement. These practices help cultivate a mind/body/spirit integration of the feminine & masculine that can be used in everyday life. They are doorways to greater ease, intimacy, authenticity, pleasure, and joy within yourself, your relationships, and your spirituality.
